Gov Abbott Suffers Severe Burns on Leg and Feet

Post by WildBill »

Republican Gov. Greg Abbott of Texas sustained "extensive second- and third-degree burns" on both legs below the knees and
both feet -- and may miss next week's Republican National Convention as a result, his office said Sunday.

Spokesman Matt Hirsch said Abbott was with his family in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, on Thursday when he was scalded in an accident
involving hot water. He declined to provide further details.
Prayers for a quick and complete recovery. :txflag: :patriot:

So sorry to hear that. Prayers for his full recovery with no complications. The article stated he put aside his injury and some more extensive treatment to address the Dallas shootings. I commend him!

I read about that on the weekend. I was most impressed that although his staff had just worked up a press release about his injuries, when the cops in Dallas were killed Governor Abbott shelved the announcement about his injuries and instead held a press conference focused completely on that. No one at the conference knew that under his pants his legs were wrapped up and he gave no indication he was injured, kept the focus completely on the police loss of life.

I also read that he will be at BAMC in San Antonio this afternoon for further treatment of his burns. Best wishes to the Governor! :txflag:

:iagree: It is great that we still have some public servants like Gov Abbott who put the welfare of the people first.
That said, second and third degree burns are serious business and I hope that he didn't put his health at risk by delaying his trip to the burn center.

He completely hid it from the media. I saw his press conference with the Dallas mayor, and he was focused, highly rational, and did a fine job of representing the state. It wasn't until around 19:00 yesterday that I saw the first story about the burns, from ABC.

Wishing Governor Abbott all best wishes for a rapid recovery with no complications.

Absolutely. I'm sorry to hear this. He has enough challenges.

I have been very pleased with Gov. Abbott since I returned from California. He seems like a very impressive fellow.
Luckily, I have enough willpower to control the driving ambition that rages within me.

Governor Abbott is certainly a fighter for our second amendment rights. Wish he were in the Whitehouse.

I wish him a speedy and full recovery.
Please know and follow the rules of firearms safety.

Governor Abbott has been admitted to Brooke Army Medical Center with an infection from the burns, and will have skin grafting surgery tomorrow to repair damage on his feet. First Lady Cecilia Abbott will appear in his place at the Dallas memorial service on Tuesday.

Most impressive, but not surprising from what I know of the man.
