German armed police smash their way into mosque

The various times I've been in Germany since 1981 until about 8 years ago I've always seen the police very well armed.

When I landed at Rhein-Main Airport in 1978 for my first tour in West Germany, I saw the Polizei patrolling in pairs, both armed with sub-machine guns.

I saw them in 2004 in Frankfurt airport...HK MP5's. I was on my way to India, where the airport police were carrying Sten Subguns probably left over from WWII by the looks of them.
