Liquor store with 51% posting

Stopped by my local liquor store Friday for wine to have with dinner. They have posted brand new 51% signs on both doors, right next to the blue "unlicensed possession" sign and just above the "no consumption on premises" sign. :???: :???:
I'll take a picture next time I am there.

I filed a complaint on the TABC website.

It should be a billboard for the LEOs. "It is against the law to consume alcohol here but that is how we make the majority of our money!" :-)

Ha... I saw a mom and pop convenient store the other day that had a piece of paper with a gunbuster, below that was black letters that just said "3006", and below that was a big red 51... Not a 51%, just a 51. Below that was the standard "misdemeanor for on premises consumption" sign...

Not smart enough to properly execute their anti-gun bias. Not surprising.

Oddly enough when I went to the hospital in Brownfield they had a similar thing going on. They had the old 30.06 sign up, and they also had a gunbuster sign, then on the next set of doors (sally port style entry) they had the new 30.06 and 30.07, but with big "51" watermarks on the signs. I was so confused. If I had my phone on me at the time I certainly would've taken a picture of the absurdity.

If you came across a situation like this, do you still
Have to leave your gun in the car/truck? Or can you stay with gun concealed or open? Or does the verbal
Warning thing come in to play?

It becomes a matter of tactics... In this case, any sign that does not conform exactly to the size and wording is not effective notice under 30.06 or 30.07, so legally you can carry. However, I can guarantee you that if you OC in there, it will be "Are you a cop?", quickly followed by "You gotta git outta here with that there thing on your hiyp." and you have now, according to some, been permanently verbally notified for that location for OC and CC... forever... for-ev-er.

However, if you are concealing, and doing a darn fine job of it... how will they know that you are carrying to verbally notify you of anything?

So, in these situations, it is best to conceal and keep quiet. It is perfectly legal to do both. Don't listen to the "honor the owner's wishes" crowd, there's something the matter with those folks.

My favorite is a 51% sign at the entrance to the assisted living facility where my mother-in-law resides. No wonder they all look so happy!

This course of events is entirely possible. It is also possible that they don't notice your openly carried gun, or that they just assume you are a cop since it would be "illegal" (in their minds) for you to have a gun if you weren't a cop. If neither of those happens, and they ask if you are a cop, a smile and a "I have authority to carry here" might end it. If not, then yes you might need to go find another liquor store for your business. Or you could just concealed carry and not worry about it at all.

I don't understand why, but Appendix D of GC 411, section 411.204 paragraph (b) requires that a hospital licensed under Chapter 241 of the Health and Safety Code, or nursing home, Licensed under Chapter 242 of the Health and Safety Code post a "51" sign that meets requirements of (c).

Paragraph "c" gives direction that it must be in 2 languages, that it is unlawful for a person licensed under this subchapter to carry a gun on the premisis...

Maybe Charles can enlighten us.

Can someone smarter than me please explain page 213 in this document where it requires certain hospitals and nursing homes to post "51" signs?

You know I've always wondered if that was meant to get hospitals to post compliant signs. If you put circle/51% mark in red across a compliant 30.06, you would be meeting the requirements of the regulation. You could also do it wrong and the sign wouldn't have force of law, but I wonder if hospital regulators try to make these facilities post compliant signs by pointing to the regulation? :???:
