I'd definitely snag one at that price. Don't need it, but a nice little scout-length bolt gun that takes standard AR magazines? At that price, what's not to love?
I'm no optics expert, but for a rifle at that price-point intended to snipe ranch varmints, I probably wouldn't want to break the bank with a scope. Nikon makes some decent, low-cost glass for .223s, like their
P-223 3-9 x 40mm for around $200, or their
ProStaff 3-9 for about $20 less. For something faster, lower-power, with a broader field of view, a
Vortex Strike Eagle in 1x6 x 24mm would work at about $330, or even a
Vortex Crossfire II 2-7 x 32mm for only about $130. Being thrifty, I'd probably go with the last one if I bought the rifle for $249; it should do the job at a budget price and decent magnification range, and ya always gotta allow for buying rings, too.
