I've got to brag a little bit....

Post by The Annoyed Man »

For those of you who subscribe to Gun-Tests magazine, I got a pretty long letter to the editor published in the September issue, under the heading: "Re "Takedown ARs from DRD, Ruger, Windham: Who Takes the Cake?" August 2016"

My letter was a [typical for me] long-winded defense of the AR15 platform as a takedown rifle subsitute, and a description of the kit I put together with my custom lower paired with a .300 Blackout SBR upper and a Carbine length 5.56 upper (both suppressed) in a covert case from LaRue. I finished up by having a laugh at my own expense and saying that after all that money spent, I was probably going to try and find a .30-30 lever rifle for a truck gun instead — citing a fear of theft after such a sizable investment.

Editor Todd Woodward answered in print with:
You know, growing up in Texas, we used to see lever actions in truck rifle racks all the time, so I get the appeal of the lever gun. I might also consider Marlin's 308 XMLR. The stainless finish would resist the inevitable condensation that would form.
Anyway, I thought that was a kick in the pants! They published another letter of mine a few years ago in response to an article they wrote comparing scout rifle models.

My favorite part this time? .....when they published it word for word, including this part:
This is my sad face. {:•(

Great Job TAM.

You may want to start writing freelance articles for some of these publications. I know you are eloquent enough, and blessed with a great sense of humor.

I read the letter in Gun-Tests and wondered if that was you when it got to the Marlin part at the end. Congrats.
