I'm worried that I might be committing a crime
Texas has a law on the books that makes it a crime for anyone to not report a felony they are aware of. I am worried that this might apply to me and that I may be a criminal. Please help me to figure this out before I get arrested. The catch is that this person is not a resident of Texas, although they do come to our great state on a fairly regular basis. I'm not sure if that excuses my behavior, however.
The specifics are that I know of a former government employee who I have reason to believe obstructed justice by authorizing the deletion of tens of thousands of e-mails. As far as I know, she has not been charged with this crime. Do I need to call the authorities to report this suspected crime? Would I be at risk of violating Texas law if I continue to not report this suspected felony? Does it make a difference if the authorities are already aware of this suspected felony?

OMG! Thank goodness that you have come forward. It is in times like this that it is so good to know that you are not alone. I find myself in a similar situation in which I know of an individual granted a Government security clearance and am aware of adverse information that might be reason to suspend or revoke that clearance. It seems that the individual is supposedly unable to determine whether or not something is classified, and used that excuse to justify careless handling of classified documents which were then disclosed to individuals lacking appropriate security clearances. I know that this has to be reported because I've been told that if I do the same thing, that I would be subject to revocation of clearance and possibly even be arrested.
Added: I thought about this a bit more and am now wondering - is it possible that your individual and mine are one in the same???

Thanks guys,I needed that!!
I would definitely report the crime, just to stay out of trouble, but do so anonymously, I hear some people who tried to make these kind of reports didn't fare too well.

On the FBI web site you can find all the information for reporting suspicious activities.

The direct link to reportcriminal activities, cyber crimes etc. is https://www.fbi.gov/tips
P. S.: They may be overwhelmed so don't expect an immediate follow up on the matter you report.

I'd report it. Just be careful. Word has it, she wasn't acting alone, and her cohorts go high up. Very high. Cheech and Chong high...

I don't know if this is part of an organized crime syndicate or not, but you should be careful I hear that they don't take kindly to snitches, and they are often found mysteriously dead.

Are police required to investigate a reported felony?

Wait, what's the penalty for not reporting a felony? Is she trying to get us all busted so we lose our ability to carry and she can turn us into weaponless masses? I'm starting to understand the method to her madness!
