I went to the Midland Gun Show put on by Silver Spur. I believe the facility is gov owned but it was posted 06/07. While there i purchased a Tyler Gun Works tomahawk from Tyler Guns and More. The blade is color case hardened.

How do you explain a dog named Sauer without first telling the story of a Puppy named Sig?

How does the case hardening affect sharpening it? Does it cause it to be more brittle? Just asking I'm no metallurgist.
Take away the Second first, and the First is gone in a second

I have not sharpened it, it comes VERY sharp, but the edge holds up well. In fact I have used it a bit and doubt that it has dulled any at all. I know that Bobby (Owner/Operator of Tyler Gun Works, and a friend since the mid 90s) is one of the top guys to talk to for color case hardening so I doubt he would sell these if the color case work did anything negative to the function. It also comes with a leather wrap for the head so that you don't cut yourself or anything you store it around/in.

Ok thanks, been looking at these type of hawks, hard to find USA made for a decent price. I'll check them out.
