Re: Teeny camping stove
Ordered one myself for my bags.
Re: Teeny camping stove
Too bad they don't take standard propane bottles. Are those bottles readily available? I'm too lazy to go and look. lol
Re: Teeny camping stove
Thank you AndyC for the info, stoves ordered.
Re: Teeny camping stove
Paw Paw, your right. I used smile.amazon when I ordered mine. I didn't think to use that link now or back when I posted some red ot sights and riser mounts. Thank you. I'll remember to do that in the future when I post anything from Amazon. I'm looking for a cheap propane to Lindal adapter now.Pawpaw wrote:A better link is https://smile.amazon.com/Etekcity-Ultra ... entries*=0puma guy wrote:Thank, Andy! I did a search and Academy says the butane/propane Lindal fitting canisters. I'm gonna check them out later today. There's always REI.AndyC wrote:You can get an adapter which apparently allows propane-only bottles to be used. I just got a couple of the little camping style Jetboil tanks - those are a butane-propane mix.

Keep us posted please. I bought a couple of these and will need to buy fuel once they are delivered.puma guy wrote:I did a search and Academy says the butane/propane Lindal fitting canisters. The left lies about everything. Truth is a liberal value, and truth is a conservative value, but it has never been a left-wing value. People on the left say whatever advances their immediate agenda. Power is their moral lodestar; therefore, truth is always subservient to it. - Dennis Prager

That saves me the trouble of doing a test. Thanks!AndyC wrote:I did a test on Sunday on my back porch - I had a 5 yr-old bag of Mountain house which I wanted to try out (and replace for new) so I timed how long it would take for the 2 cups of water to boil. Around 4-1/2 mins at about a medium flame using my South African army "firebucket" mug from the water-bottle:

Good News Academy sells the fuel canisters that will fit these stoves. Check your local store on the website for availability because they don't all carry them. My Academy has three different brands/sizes. MSR, Jetboil and Coleman. The Coleman is the least expensive per ounce 7.75oz/$4.99. The MSR is 8oz/$5.99 and the Jetboil is 3.53oz/$3.49.bblhd672 wrote:Keep us posted please. These canisters have a butane -propane mix instead of just propane. Propane requires a thicker walled (added weight) vessel than butane, but butane will freeze at a much lower temperature than propane. These small stoves are usually carried by backpackers with weight being a critical factor, so the compromise is a B/P mix in a lighter thin walled tank and enough propane in the mix to keep the freeze point low enough to be practical in snowy environs and enough butane to keep the vapor pressure low. It's actually isobutane and I can't remember the different boiling and freeze points of iso VS. normal butane. As an operator in an LPG plant we used to refine 40,000 barrels a day of B/P mix into Propane, Butane and Iso-Butane, but I do recall iso has a higher freeze point than normal. The stoves will work with the small propane tanks, but require an adapter between the fittings on the tank and the stove. The ones I've seen are $25-30 bucks. There are probably some out there that are cheaper.

Re: Teeny camping stove
I actually have a set of these stoves on order from Amazon, along with a couple of 100 gram Jetboil fuel bottles. I didn't realize they're as tiny as Andy has illustrated.
