Oh I get it. You just use your house to store guns, and sleep in the yard in a pup tent, right? ;-)

I see. You're just taking that fabulous deal out of pity for a person in need....

I really don't want to leak more money at this time of the month, but it's too attractive a price and it helps him out, so... maybe I can use it to "pick up chicks" on the skeet-range
Good for you. What choke is it - or a better question does it have interchangeable tubes? If so it's probably not the 20 ga Standard and could be the LW or the LT. The LW and the LT will be marked. The Standard was built on the 12 ga frame and the S/N will end in X or N. Generally the barrels are not interchangeable. The barrels for the standard model 20 ga are extremely difficult to find and command a premium price; especially in Skeet. IC and CYL and will only fit the Standard Model they were designed for. The LW was built on a dedicated 20 ga frame starting in 1970 and in 1977 the LT came out with some construction changes. I've been told the barrels for the LW and LT shotguns will not fit one another, but I have no first hand knowledge. I do know from my personal 20 ga 1100 the standard model 20ga barrels only fit that gun. The magazine band on the barrel lug is larger than the LW and LT. If a quarter will go through the mag band it's a standard barrel. There was a lightweight 20ga in 1966 that came with a mahogany stock to reduce weight; it was not marked LW. I saw one back then and I was appalled that Remington would cheapen the Model 1100

Very, Very Nice! I brought mine last time we got together in case C-dub's daughter (Li'l-Dub?) might like to shoot. I'm not brave enough to try with a 20 ga. Looking forward to your range report!

When my father's eyes deteriorated to the point that he couldn't shoot, he gave me his 1100 12 gauge. I've used it a lot and am happy with it. Then my father-in-law died, leaving another of the same. When I go, my two daughters will each get one.

They are fine shotguns and worthy of being venerated heirlooms.

AndyC wrote:Well, the Skeet rem-choke arrived Thu night - and of course didn't fit. After much investigating and measuring, I pretty much figured out that this shotgun must have originally been 1) a fixed-choke Imp Cyl barrel (because it's marked as such on the barrel) and at some point 2) was cut for screw-in chokes made by Colonial Arms of AL (the markings outside the choke were worn off, so it took some detective-work to figure out who made the choke). A Skeet choke is now on the way from those guys but no biggie - Imp Cyl woks just fine for skeet, even if a teeny bit tight.

Speaking of skeet, I took my brother-in-law out yesterday to shoot 3 rounds at Elm Fork before it got cold as he has a new Ruger 20-ga O/U he wanted to try out. The other gas-system parts had arrived but I just swapped the rubber O-ring out for a new one and left the original metal gas-piston rings in place to see how they did. The little gun shot fine - I didn't miss very many birds and the gun only hung up once with a shell hanging in the lifter and the action locked open. No biggie - onwards and upwards with this thing.

Elm Fork now has wireless controllers on their skeet-fields - much more convenient than trying to drag those cables around, but the price is now $10/round for skeet. Starting to get pricey...
Andy, Is this the company that did the choke installation on your 1100?

Maybe Elm Fork has to pay Verizon for the wireless connection!

Maybe they do

Yep, those are the guys - got a real fast response to my inquiry, too.
Their choke tube installation (threading) fees are quite reasonable compared to Briley, Wright's, etc., but their fee doesn't include tubes.
