Ruger Mark IV 22/45 Lite

Post by Jago668 »

Just purchased one of these. Thought it would be a good pistol to use to teach my daughter how to shoot. Never mind that she doesn't arrive for a few more months. I have to make sure I am well versed in the function of the pistol. You can't get it right when it is time to teach.

I have a 22/45 Lite Mark III and I can't get the thing apart even with the Ruger approved rubber mallet method. It's a wonderful gun to shoot but I end up wanting to throw it when I want to clean it so I guess what I'm saying is I need a Mark IV.

Congrats on the new gun and teaching your daughter to shoot!

I have one. Disassembly and reassembly is a pain. I have learned the secret and usually get it back together after two or three tries.

Mine is picky about ammo. I find the Federal bulk pack for semi-autos works well. Subsonic is hopeless, which is disappointing because the reason I bought mine was to put a can on it.

It is hearing safe with a Silencer Company Specter II and high velocity ammo, but it is by no means "silent". It is quiet but unreliable with subsonic ammo.

BTW, I am very glad I got a suppressor with stainless steel baffles. They hold up much better to cleaning, which is an issue with rim fire ammo.

I have this is one of my 22/45's and it is quite simple now

I only wish the Mark IV's used the same magazines as the Mark III 22/45's. If they did, I would have bought one already
I just don't want to pay $400-$450 for a new Mark IV and another $25-35 each for 3-4 more mags!

I plan on buying one in a month or so once I find one. What is the going price right now?

This is the ammo that reliably cycles my 22/45.

I use standard velocity CCI ammo in mine and haven't had an issue although I do plan to suppress it.
