Birthday help for a 100 year young sweet lady

I would like to enlist the help of any on this forum who would like to participate.
My wife's Grandmother will be 100 years young on February 2nd. (we have gone through a lot of groundhogs, but only one Nonnie)

Her eyesight and hearing are failing her, she is as sharp as a tack mentally. She is of that generation of letter writers and card senders.

To celebrate this occasion, I ask that all forum members, who would participate, send her a Birthday card. She is in a nursing home and unable to leave, but she grades (as many do in her generation) how well she is doing by the number of cards she receives on her Birthday.

I will try to get one out. My grandmother lived to be 101, she just passed away in 2012. Just a suggestion, for those who may not have time to buy, and then mail a card, if you contact the staff at the nursing home, they may provide you with an email address to send electronic cards and letters, that they can then print out, and give to Nonnie Donie. You can then post it on here.

The card in the mail is what most of the folks look forward to getting. That is why my wife tries to write her weekly even though the talk almost daily on the phone. She generally add a photo, even though she cannot see it well.

That's a very nice gesture and I will be happy to send her a card. There is something special about getting mail in the mailbox for the young-uns and our elderly. I will sign it with my username. (You might have to explain why some parents would name their son Mxrdad). Good luck with that if we all do it.

I doubt I have any suitable cards in the house that I can use. If not, I'll send a hand-written letter tomorrow.

Yeah, some of us are seasoned enough we can even pull out a real fountain pen and write a letter...cursive and everything!

Wish we could let her know why we're writing, though. Somehow I don't think "I know your granddaughter's husband, twomillenium" would help much.

It is. That's why the entry field for posts will accept only plain, sans serif text. That way I can't accidentally violate the rule.

Thanks to all that participated!. Donie had a wonderful 100th Birthday, she received 75+ cards from all over. More than half were from my Texas friends from forums and social media. She received a declaration from the Mississippi Legislature and a visit by many local friends. More than 160 attended her Birthday party on the 2nd. Overall, the number of cards were almost overwhelming. I realize that in the day of texting on smartphones, we still have a generation that yearns to hear that voice or read that card or letter. Thanks again to all those who sent a card or said a prayer. You made a difference, not only to Donie but to my whole family as well.
