I was leaving my lake house this morning to come home to Katy, and my battery was dead on my car. I have a jump starter and everything was fine until I killed the motor at home. I tried to start it again and it was dead. I jump started it again and headed to Sam's to get a new battery. My transmission would not shift out of 1st gear. (2014 Ford Expedition with 42,000 miles). I made it to Sam's...got a new battery and the transmission now works fine. I googled this problem and this is what I found out:

So if you have a weak or dead battery, many things can go wacky on these newer cars.

Re: I learned something today
I've had my fair share of problems with cars through the years. I'm thinking my next vehicle will be a little bull dozer.
Re: I learned something today
I learned a hard lesson when I was being a good Samaritan by jumping a guys car who's battery was apparently completely dead. I hooked up my jumper cables and his car would not turn over. I let it sit a while and it would click and barely move the starter. He talked me into starting my truck engine even though I had heard it could blow an alternator doing that. The stories are true. I unhooked after his engine started and when I got into my truck my alternator light was on. I now carry a 450 Amp battery pack jumper and if it won't work I leave them to their own devices.howdy wrote:I was leaving my lake house this morning to come home to Katy, and my battery was dead on my car.
