This is not in Texas, but still a good reminder not to get too comfortable with your carry and carry it through the airport screener. . interesting the TSA still let her board. Also must happen a frequently if the TSA is pointing out that concealed carry folks are packing through the screening.

I think its good that people are getting comfortable, and the fact that they carry under the auspices of a law that "allows" you to do so is good...

Getting to the point where it becomes second nature to you is important, but settling into a routine like that does not allieviate you from the responsibilities of knowing whats off-limits and what is not...

And if you know your going to an airport, for whatever reason...

Alarms and sirens should be going off in your head before you get there...Right???

TAMPA - A Hernando County woman was jailed this morning after she allegedly tried to take a loaded handgun through a security checkpoint at Tampa International Airport.

Screeners found a .38 caliber Smith & Wesson in a purse belonging to Susan True of Spring Hill around 6 a.m., airport officials said. The weapon was loaded with five rounds.

True, who owns an expired weapons permit, was charged with carrying a concealed weapon. The 56-year-old was released at noon on $2,000 bond.

Right, and more so if you choose to carry "off the body." Carry in a briefcase, gym bag, golf bag or whatever has a tendency to get forgotten, where if it's on your body you will have a tendency to recall its presence.

Being a judge does not exempt you from PC §46.03 (5) which prohibits carrying a weapon into the secured area of an airport. The only exemption from any part of PC §46.03 for judges is exemption from the prohibition against carrying in that judge's courtroom.

Anybody else would have been detained, put in handcuffs, hauled off to jail, strip and cavity searched (violated) and been treated like garbage until proven innocent....and even then probably would have had their CHL revoked and be put on some Homeland Security FBI potential terrorist list.

No it says they are not breaking any STATE UCW or PROHIBITED PLACE laws. Federal Laws still apply.

You're right, Renegade. I looked all through PC46.03 for any exceptions for judges, but overlooked PC46.15.

You're also right about it only keeping them from being prosecuted under state law. The Feds are another matter entirely.
