Chasing the intruder down the street may not have been the best move, but it seems like some details are missing from the article. The homeowner awoke to a 'scream'... so it sounds like there's a little more to this.

After realizing that his home had an intruder, a homeowner chased down a 19-year-old man and shot him to death on the Northwest Side early Saturday, according to a police report.

Raymond Lemes, 48, said he was asleep when he heard a scream.

Lemes grabbed his gun and realized an intruder, later identified as Tracy Glass, was in his home in the 9800 block of Autumn Star.

Glass took off and Lemes chased him down the street. When he caught up to the suspect, Lemes said Glass took a swing at him so he shot the man.

When police arrived at 2:35 a.m., they found Glass facedown, dead with gunshot wounds to the chest, neck and arm.

The homeowner had a license for his .40 caliber Glock pistol, a police report said.

He told police Glass probably had gained access to his home through a sliding door that had been broken for some time.

Once again, it boggles my mind that people feel it's ok to leave doors and windows unlocked, or in this specific case, ignore an unsecured broken door with no apparent sense of urgency to get it fixed.

If your home is supposed to be your castle, you should remember that there was a *very good reason* that castles had moats and drawbridges.

Amazing...

I have never gotten a license for my Glock .40...

I HAVE though gotten a license to carry concealed in the State of Texas, and a few other states as well...

I agree with Txi...This is probably not going to bode well for the home owner...

And Ruben...That scream does needs investigating as well...

I guess I'm trying to understand what you mean by "license for my Glock .40".

I was not aware that anybody needed separate licenses for their individual guns.

I have a Glock 23 that I carry on a daily basis. I have my CHL, but I don't carry separate licenses for my different guns.

I may just not understand what you mean.

I see in that story above that the man supposedly "had a license for his .40 handgun". I'm assuming that they actually mean his gun is registered in his name.

It's probably the wording that throwing me off.

He was just making fun of the fact that the article's author mentioned that "The homeower had a license for his .40 caliber Glock pistol" which, as you've picked up on, doesn't make any sense since guns aren't individually licensed in Texas.

Gotcha. Good, I just wanted to make sure I wasn't going crazy.

Funny how the press can never get things right when it comes to guns.

With that said, I'm going to go get a license for my Gock 23 and then a separate license for my Glock 27.

You can never have enough licenses!

If anyone wants a Glock license, I can make you one.....I'm a graphic artist! :)

I'm surprised the press did'nt report that he had a lic for his "Glock semi auto revolver". Our local newspaper did that one time, talking about our police forces new Glocks calling them "semi auto service revolvers.". The press, what a joke.
