Kingwood area near Houston Hotel help

Good evening all Houstonians or anyone that knows the area and can help.

My daughter is taking a trip with a friend to pick up a puppy her friend is getting. The friend has a small car that the crate won't fit in, so my daughter volunteered to drive her down in her larger vehicle.

They are going to drive down and stay overnight somewhere and then pick up the pup the next morning and drive home.

Is there a "bad" area they should avoid staying overnight? I'm wondering if few miles east from I-45 along FM1960 is a good idea.

Kingwood is not I-45 and FM1960. I live in Kingwood. Along I-45, I would avoid FM 1960, it is near Gunspoint mall. I would stay farther north. In Kingwoid, there are some good hotels near Kingwood Drive and I-69/59.

You're absolutely correct.

I only saw the interstate symbol on google maps and assumed it was I-45. After your reply I went and looked closer to find that it is I-69. Thanks so much.

In that case, what do you think about the area up around I=69 and Kingwood Dr.? Or do you think it would be better to go a little further around Porter? I've never stayed in this area and it's been several years since I've even been south of Huntsville on my way to a friends place over in Crosby.

Sorry I am potentially late to the party here. As D/FW is the Origin/Return point I would suggest the Drury Inn & Suites in The Woodlands. I know that they are pet friendly, affordable and in a very safe area for them to get a bite to eat if they want to leave the property.

Kingwood Drive & I-69 area has some clean hotels. Safe too. I would stay away from Porter (FM1314 & I-69) and Humble (FM 1960 & I-69). Humble was recently identified as one of the most dangerous cities in Texas.

Being pet friendly is not a concern since they will stay the night before picking up the pup. They will pick up the pup in the morning and head home after that.

The M4 is cleaned and bug-out bag is already packed ready to go. Other things that don't go in that bag are in the garage by the door waiting to be tossed in the back of the truck if needed.

My youngest daughter is 41. I remember when she took her first "trip solo" so I can relate to how you feel. Be prepaired though as you will always think of her as your little one and those protective feelings never go away....
