Another 3006 sign came down

Post by Vol Texan »

A couple months ago Mrs VolTexan asked me to stop in the Tostada Regia restaurant in the Westchase area of Houston. She'd heard they have good food, and wanted me to bring some home.

I arrived at the place and found a couple of 3006 and 3007 signs in the windows. Weighing my two options of (a) going against my instinct or (b) disappointing Mrs VolTexan by not bringing home tacos when she said to...

I chose (a), which involved disarming and entering the business. As I was waiting for my food to be prepared, I had a friendly discussion with the manager about their signs. I shared with her my concerns about the 3006 sign, I showed her the Texas3006.com app (with a map of businesses that over a million LTC holders might choose NOT to enter based on the signs), and I explained to her about how the sign kept out only the most law-abiding folks, while not stopping criminals from coming in with a gun.

I invited her to audit one of my LTC classes for free, and I also asked if she could invite the owner of the restaurant as well (as it didn't look like a big chain place). I gave her my card with contact info to share with the owner if he/she had any more questions.

I never heard from them again, but last week I was out with Li'l Miss VolTexan while the missus was working late, and we passed by this place. I noticed that there were no NO 3006 or 3007 signs in the windows, so we went in and ordered again.

The manager I spoke with was not working. I don't know when the signs came down, and I don't know if it had anything to do with the discussion we'd had a couple months earlier - but I hope it was a catalyst for them to do the right thing!

We got a table and I had some good 'dad time' with my daughter. Now if only the food was any better, we'd go back again :banghead:

I'm headed over to the Texas3006.com site now to remove that location :thewave
