I think you're talking about the Lorcin. It's not really as big as it looks. And it feels like a kids cap pistol. I shudder to think what one round of .357 Mag would do to it!

Just looking at the gun that was pictured. The grip just seems out of proportion and bigger than a normal .380 grip. Probably the angle of the picture.

I hate to knock Hi-Points as I have never owned one. I just figured it was a reasonably reliable gun that was very cheap. Yes, there are better guns, but all more expensive. Even better used guns are more expensive. Hi Points have their place in the market. There will always be people who need a gun, but can't afford much which is where Hi Point comes in.

Somewhere buried amongst gun stuff, I have a Jennings 380 pistol. The one time I shot it, it functioned just fine. However, the beavertail at the top of the grip was undersized for me and the slide cut the web of my hand. I think the Jennings brand (and other variants) got in trouble because their safety didn't work. They would have been better off just removing it.

Thanks, I feel better. I'm going to have to find a day when I'm the only one on the range. Pride, you know. Just me and EMS!

Still in all, I'm curious about how well it will shoot. Wouldn't it be a hoot if I can shoot groups as good as my S&W Bodyguard .380, LCP, or my daughter's Sig 238 can? And if it does that without a single hiccup? I think I'll take some WD40 with me. (Old 22 semi auto trick)

If that happens, well....I might just take out the old Bernardelli next.



I know....nobody knows what a Bernardelli .380 is.

As for accuracy, it's comparable to or maybe better than my Bersa.

By the way...it has been recommended not to manually cycle live rounds through the Lorcin or the Hi Point. I know it's a bit of a stretch but...the firing pin is the ejector. I don't think the extractor could hold the round tight enough to cause the firing pin to dent the primer but why take the chance. If I remember correctly, Hi Points have this same set up.

I wouldn't waste a good mask when a paper bag would work just as well..

Well, I took Mrs. Jimenez out this evening, and I must admit she's a fun cheap date.

Grabbed a target and 50 rounds of Armscor .380ACP. I fired from around 10 yards.



I did slightly throw a few, but kept them on paper. I have to blame it on something so I'll blame it on getting used to the sights again and the fact that the trigger pull is not always consistent in the way it feels. I was able to keep the majority of the rounds close to center. The little gun stayed together...no injuries. In fact it shot rather well. A key was knowing its quirks...having to have the safety off and depress the mag release to insert a mag. Not a big gun, but not tiny either...felt good in the hands. Out of these 50 rounds there were no malfunctions...all fed and fired just fine.

As I said before (I think) I've had much more expensive guns perform worse.

Looks okay to me. More importantly, the purpose of such a gun being to provide personal protection at a price anyone can afford, it looks like it would do the job.

As is always said, it sure beats the gun you can't afford when you need one.

I was given one of these, had to sell it as I just didn't like the feel of it....or the reviews.

Not a bad price for someone who can't afford a better gun...
