NFA Wait Times

Just received an email from my FFL in Cedar Park that my suppressor (Dead Air Mask) is in.

Being Cedar Park did you use Capital Armory? If so would like to hear your thoughts on how they handled everything. I directed my brother to them for several cans here recently.

Yes it was Capital Armory and the purchase couldn't have gone any smoother. They were fast, efficient and kept me informed of the status. THey certainly know how to prepare and process the required paperwork. Their website has a section where they tell you what "dates of submission" they are getting tax stamps back for, which is nice. I emailed my paperwork to them and they emailed me the date it was submitted (with a copy), emailed me that they received the tax stamp and sent a pdf copy of the form with the tax stamp on it.

Based on my experience, I would definitely recommend Capital Armory!!!

I am opting to go pick it up rather than have it mailed to me and it will be nice to see their store and meet some of the employees. I just hope I don't buy another suppressor when I'm there

September 30: Purchased and filed two Form 4s

October 12: ATF checks cleared

February 13: notified by dealer that my stamps had arrived and he had sent CLEO notification

February 15: Suppressors and stamps at home in my gun safe.

The dealer had told me that processing would take 4 months after my checks cleared at the ATF. He was right.

Saturday when I picked up my suppressor they told me any new applications would now probably take 6-9 months because the ATF is flooded with submissions.....I was thinking about purchasing one for my AR-15s "just because" but think I'll just stick with suppressing my rimfires.

Got my Form 1 back for my 9mm SBR, had Ken Clardy (Ken's Engraving, Arlington, TX, www.DallasEngraver.com) engrave my lower, sighted it in, and planning a little CQB training this weekend!

I want to do an SBR too, but right now I'm spending all my spare money tweaking and upgrading what I already have - it's amazing how money flows when you're having fun

Not only that, once Obama's EO is followed, if I want to add to the trust then I would have to have my wife finger printed, etc.
And the danger there is she would find out how many items we have in the trust...

So, any additions need to happen NOW. .308 SBR in the works

Is the "Final Rule" helping wait times? Did the BATFE get the electronic filing system fixed?

yeah, looking at NFA tracker, it looks like 8-10 months is the going rate for a form 4 suppressor right about now....

I filed for an SBR tax stamp in March. SBR still sitting in the FFL safe. No idea when the ATF will get to my paperwork but I am certain that this NFA nonsense is a heck of a lot more unconstitutional than "stop & frisk"!

How do you figure? My most recent two Form 4s were cashed on 2/19/16 and approved 9/4/16. From what I can see that's about average right now along with most other folks.

fair enough. But looking at date of purchase (but I know that the ATF doesn't really start their clock till after the checks are cashed) to date that stamps are received nfatracker.com looks like 7-8 months for a form 4 is pretty normal, with some longer and some shorter. Looks like yours was turned around a little quicker. Last year I purchased mine on Sept. 30 and received stamps probably around 1st or 2nd week of Feb. I thought that 4.5 months was a looong time.
