I suspect that it's like a lot of job markets: if you've got the right skills, you can name your price. There's a big tech sector there (which has had ups and downs just like tech sectors elsewhere). Construction trades are a huge opportunity.
Then again, sometimes you have to change your life focus if you want to move somewhere. I know a couple who moved to Keene a couple of years ago. He's a CPA, she's an experienced computer programmer. They shifted focus, and now they do year-'round landscaping and lawn service without power tools, for those who appreciate that. They also founded and publish a newspaper, which seems to be taking off very well.
This lets them focus on home schooling their daughter while being their own bosses.

That's one movie I never seem to get tired of watching. Bought the DVD after seeing it on a movie channel one night (the wife and I rarely go to the movies any more), and have watched it many times since... one of the few I can do that with.the Mel Gibson film “The Patriot.
I had often thought that if it had been released in the '70's, I would have had much more interest in High School U.S. History and made better grades than I did (my history teacher was big on having us memorize dates and events, but did little in captivating our [or at least my] imagination with background stories or details leading up to those events).

Porcupine Freedom Festival 2008
Hello Everyone.
I read the Free State Project post here and added this PorcFest 2008! update and would like to invite everyone especialy the freedom, liberty and 2nd amendment believers to visit us in NH where FSP members actively support the 2nd with both open and concealed carry.
I’m spreading the word about this great liberty event presented by the Free State Project (FSP)http://www.freestateproject.org. June 9th – 15th Gunstock Mountain Resort in Gilford, New Hampshire. Further details are online at http://www.PorcFest.com.
PorcFest 2008 is to showcase New Hampshire and the FSP community through parties, tours, BBQs, hikes, informal discussions, concerts, shooting trips, camping, and other fun activities that suit the needs of families, singles, and kids alike. The liberties enjoyed by New Hampshire citizens (e.g. no income or sales tax), and their interactions and influence with local and state legislators is impressive. I am hoping you will make this one of your outings this summer.
PorcFest 2008 is an event you will remember always. Missed events before that you wish you’d attended? Don’t let PorcFest 2008 and the FSP be another historical event missed!
If you believe in the “Bill of Rights, support the Constitution and are looking to achieve liberty in your lifetime, you definitely need to check this out. I had watched the Free State Project grow and its members’ activism. The quality and quantity of successful liberty activists I met, and the community they enjoy with The Free State Project and their legislators are amazing.
There’s a good and short video from PorcFest 2007 produced by Free Minds TV (one of two libertarian TV shows in NH….how many of these are there where you live ?) discussing the FSP and the festival at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_nm8-2Plxt0 .
There's an FAQ page at http://www.freestateproject.org/festival/faqand I'd be glad to answer any questions or get you any information about the event or the FSP via email at tom.ploszaj@gmail.com. Feel free to post as well to the PorcFest forum at http://forum.freestateproject.org/index.php?board=60.0 .
Friends that have made the move to New Hampshire now have their own TV and radio programs, documentaries, newspapers, homes and websites. Start your search with these sites for a glimpse of what the Free State Project and its participants are about and have accomplished in the first 4 years. I ask you to view some of the videos such as Rep. Dan Itse’s, who has instructed New Hampshire citizens on their Constitutionhttp://www.nhliberty.org/nh_constitution_class and trains citizens how to give testimony to state committee on legislation http://youtube.com/watch?v=mN97RTEDX4A ( where other than New Hampshire can you find state representatives that will teach you your rights and how to challenge bills?).
