"So, can I borrow your shotgun..."
I just had a film making friend ask if he could borrow my shotgun for a movie he's making... Of course I explained it is not a prop and went off in language not suited for this board about what a bad idea that would be. I can see the headlines new "Actor shot by unloaded gun." Ugh.... Hopefully he doesn't find someone to "help him out"
Re: "So, can I borrow your shotgun..."
Some of the spring airsoft guns at Academy look very realistic, are reasonably priced, and would be a much better choice for a amateur movie prop.

A little After Effects and spray paint and an airsoft gun can work in most situations. I wouldn't ever consider taking a chance using a real weapon for a scene.

Didn't Jon-Erik Hexum die from a prop gun loaded with blanks? Ah, yes. Here it is:kirock7 wrote:A little After Effects and spray paint and an airsoft gun can work in most situations. I wouldn't ever consider taking a chance using a real weapon for a scene.

A friend of mine needed a gun for something similar.
I let him use my 1911 after pulling the firing pin out, and giving everyone involved a lesson in handling.

Same thing happened to Brandon Lee, son of Bruce Lee.pedalman wrote:Didn't Jon-Erik Hexum die from a prop gun loaded with blanks? Ah, yes. Here it is:
