"So, can I borrow your shotgun..."

Post by atxgun »

I just had a film making friend ask if he could borrow my shotgun for a movie he's making... Of course I explained it is not a prop and went off in language not suited for this board about what a bad idea that would be. I can see the headlines new "Actor shot by unloaded gun." Ugh.... Hopefully he doesn't find someone to "help him out"

Some of the spring airsoft guns at Academy look very realistic, are reasonably priced, and would be a much better choice for a amateur movie prop.

A little After Effects and spray paint and an airsoft gun can work in most situations. I wouldn't ever consider taking a chance using a real weapon for a scene.
My life and the lives of my co-workers can't be measured against some inexpensive digital effects.

Didn't Jon-Erik Hexum die from a prop gun loaded with blanks? Ah, yes. Here it is:

A friend of mine needed a gun for something similar.
I let him use my 1911 after pulling the firing pin out, and giving everyone involved a lesson in handling.

Same thing happened to Brandon Lee, son of Bruce Lee.
