Should I worry about carrying my stainless steel guns in a black leather holster as far as staining up or just messing my the finish?

im half joking with the pics but am gunuinly concerned if whether a brand new solid black leather holster will mess up a stainless finish with extended sweaty carry.

most stainles finishes aren't a high polish, and its not a coating that wears off. The only wear I would think you might get over a period of time is that you could pick up spots of shine. I prefer to think of it as character that wont rust. My daily carry is a stainless Ruger P95 That I've carried for 3 years. The only place I've noticed wear is some very light surface scratches on the plastic. and the sights which have the normal bluing have some gun metal grey showing through the wear.

I wish all my stuff were made of the plastic and stainless that they make guns out off. Its pretty tough stuff.

Set your mind at ease.

Liberty and Gemini are right. However, remember that stainless means what it says - it stains less, which is different than not at all.

If you carry it a lot, sweat on it extensively, and clean it rarely, you can develop spots of rust on the outside and you will almost certainly see rust on interior parts that can stay wet even when the outside has dried. The corrosion won't be anything like the picture of the revolver in your post and it will be easy to clean off without leaving significant marks if caught early. Periodic cleaning (I suggest at least once a week if you're carrying it regularly in hot weather) and wiping it down inside and out (bore included) with a lightly oiled patch or cloth should keep it looking good indefinitely.
