Target Stands

Where is the best place to buy target stands, I have seen some on the internet, but would like to just go to a store and buy them. I need some that are heavy duty. Can anyone make a suggestion.

I bought a spinning type target at Gander or Academy designed for .22, but I shoot 9mm at it and it holds up okay. There is definite wear on it but it holds up. It was cheap so I'm not out too much.

Not sure what you are looking for in target stands, but my range provides free 2 x 2s and plywood to make target stands and has a row of steel target stands in front of the berm, but the latter are all shot up. My solution was to make four target stands from 2" PVC. Do not cement the PVC pieces together so in case you shoot one it can be replaced... so far I have not hit one! The target stands can be placed in front of the berm for practice. They are really useful for engaging multiple targets while moving laterally, diagonally to the rear, etc. Another alternative is clay pigeons placed along the berm to provide some real challenge at the 25 yard line. So far my personal best was breaking three clay birds in succession at the 50 yard line while on my 2d CHL qualification with my Kimber TLE .45ACP. The newbies were impressed while I knew it was pure luck.

I have seen several different types of spinning targets and target holders at Cabela's.

But, if you really want durable and top quality stuff for a range, here are three companies our agency has done business with:

My personal favorite metal targets are the dueling trees for center fire pistols. I also would really like to try the target robot from LE targets.

The target stand from the second supplier is a good basic system using wood strips to staple targets to.

Some of the most fun I've had shooting was to take an RC car, tie some helium balloons of various colors to it, have a friend drive while I tried to hit a specific color balloon.

It's considered poor sportsmanship to shoot the car.
