I quickly skimmed over HB 1893 and didn't find the answer to this so i'm gonna bounce it off you folks.
I work at a private college university. Does HB 1893 have an effect on me being able to carry concealed on campus if it passes into law? It's not a publicly funded university and receives no state funds.

The original version of the bill would not have differentiated between public and private. The version approved by the house committee would allow private universities to "opt-out" of the provision.

In the original bill could a private school have posted 30.06 signs?

Sure they could, but they wouldn't be enforceable.Ace_Inthe_O wrote:In the original bill could a private school have posted 30.06 signs?

Not from my reading, but of course, there's the infamous disclaimer "IANAL".Ace_Inthe_O wrote:In the original bill could a private school have posted 30.06 signs?

Re: HB 1893 and private schools
If they modify 46.03 to provide an exemption for CHL (or remove schools from 46.03) I don't see why that would affect the ability of a private school to post 30.06 like any other private business.
On the other hand, if the final bill gives affirmative permission to carry at schools, that might override 30.06 trespass.
