If the finish on your weapon is the normal "Brushed Stainless", there is a real easy fix to remove the mark. If you already have a bench grinder all you need to do is buy a "Fine Scotchbrite Wheel". You can find them at any knifemakers supply and also at many hardware stores. It will restore the brushed finish and remove the scratch. You will also find many other uses for the wheel if you do any metal work at all.
The only drawback is that they are fairly expensive, $50-$60 for the 6" wheel, but they last forever.
