Lots of good reading and thoughts here ! Hope I didn't SPEED READ over, any good ideas.
T E X A S .... is a big State, even if your from California "rlol"
My 3 cents worth:
We all join TCHA ... have our weekly//monthly - meetings at our favorit cafe//coffee shops /!?

Any one in Georgetown, Round Rock, Cedar Park .... ETC. want to establish a bi weekly//monthly meeting some where.
I'm sure the dicussions will be good ... we just need some place as good, to get the burger and/or pie !!!!!

I believe the largest age population of CHL's is over 40. Most of y'all under 40 had some exposure to computers and the associated technology in middle school, if not before, or at least before high school graduation. The rest of us became computer savvy either by necessity (profession/job) or for entertainment value. I would venture a guess that there are more chl's out there that don't have the time, take the time. or even care to romp around on the internet than there are chl internet junkies. These are the folks that are slipping through the cracks when it comes to being informed. I have many chl friends in my age group that just do not care to wade through all the opinions posted on the internet while searching for qualified answers to their questions, and a couple of these guys are educators. The point is, the internet does NOT reach everyone.
As an "over 40", but "very 'net savvy" guy, I have to say I agree with the above assessment.

But.....

Part of the idea of a well organized "association" is to have a printed news letter for those that aren't computer savvy, and internet available downloads for those that are. Information is the key, and keeping chl holders educated is paramount to protecting our rights to carry. Printed information from a known credible source is always valuable.
... I absolutely feel like this isn't a good solution either.

To be quite honest, this seems like a not-so-veiled attempt to form an association with the purpose of allowing the person running it to make money.

Even if such an association existed, I am almost certain I would not join.

Other organizations (TSRA for one) already do a plenty good job at what is being proposed here.

If you build it, they will come. If they don't come then maybe you didn't build the right thing.

We can do that without joining TCHA or TCHIA or TCHLA or whatever it's called this week. I joined NRA and TSRA and other organizations that add value for me. What has TCHA done in the past 10 years?

believe me, I am NOT trying to start an organization. My personal life is already crowded enough with enough responsibilities outside of trying to run a self-employed business and family. So, if the "not so-veiled attempt" statement was targeted at me, I obviously did not do a sufficient job at expressing a sincere concern I have for the many friends and acquaintances I have that are constantly trying to wade through second and third hand information they run across.

So far there have been at least a half dozen "organizations" mentioned in this thread, and I still do not know if any would address my concerns.

Yes, it was - but I'll take your statement that it is not at face value.

I feel that the Texas State Rifle Association (TSRA) does address all of the concerns you mentioned in your OP. Have you looked into / joined them?
