We all knew there was a gunshow this last weekend at the GRB convention center...We all know the rules and or regs regarding carry at certain events in that government owned and operated facility...
Here's what I did...
I went there with my noobie and his son to just go for the fun of it and see what jumped out at us to say "BUY ME!"
Anyway, I knew they would have a policy of unloaded firearms in the facility and the event, so I unloaded and reholstered the "Piledriver" (a.k.a.-Springfield 1911) and kept the ammo separate from the firearm...Because I knew I could get it zipp tied when I got inside the gunshow...
Here's the neat thing...We got in and both had our holstered firearms cleared and zipp tied...We put them back away and concealed under our Hawaiian shirts...And got ready to proceed upon our way...
The HPD officer zipp tying my weapon, mentioned that it might have been a problem me bringing my gun into the event, and that if I was Law Enforcement that might be ok since I was undercover (civilian clothing)??? The only thing I said was that I was not L.E. and that I said in a jockular tone that I didn't want to leave my weapon in the vehicle outside the event...My noobie has not invested in any vehicle safes or other devices to secure these items...
I had no initial intention to do anything with the weapon at the event, I believed it would be more secure on my person, than sitting under a seat in a vehicle...
He (HPD) apparently didn't have a problem with that and we said nothing else to each other, and we proceeded on our way...
Anyway, I didn't give it much thought till after we left, and thought y'all would enjoy knowing that once again the Steve-miester unknowingly busted some myths about this issue...
The event actually did have a properly posted 30.06 sign at the entrance...

But since this is a gunshow, and that people (non-vendors) bring weapons into the event to sell, trade or have fixed or modified at the event, I am kinda thinking the whole issue of bringing guns into a gunshow should not be considered such a terrible thing by some people...
Admittedly I am fearless in my thoughts and actions (right or wrong), and figured this would be interesting for some to just read and think about how all the discussions we have on issues in the past, and have someone actually test some things, not intending to do anything wrong, yet in some way you go thru a system like this and nothing actually bad happen to you, to me is a little comforting...Again, just my opinion...
