Just out of interest

Post by Kevinf2349 »

How many of us have spouses that either:

Also have a CHL and carry 24x7

and/or

Accompany you to the range and shoot along side of you.

I know it certainly helps to have a wife who likes to partake in the paper destroying missions but just wondered how many are fortunate enough to hace a better half who, like mine, comes to the range with me, has her CHL and actively encourages me to buy bang sticks.

my wife wants to get her CHL.
she goes with me to the range sometimes . and sometimes my son goes .

my wife is no stranger to guns . thanks to her up bringing.
if she could , she would carry a Desert Eagle in her purse .
for practical purposes , we're thinking more like a smaller 9mm .

My better half enjoys shooting and goes to the range with me sometimes. There is talk of a second chl in the family, but no time frame. I haven't exactly figured out how to really sell the "we need more guns" idea, unfortunately. :banghead:

My mom is a lifelong shooter...in fact, I believe she taught my dad after they got together. Mom currently has a permit in her state of residency.

She likes it. :hurry: Now remember she is 79.
She loaded up while I put up a target. 8.5 X 11 white w/ black spot stuck on it in the middle. Set it up the 11 high & the 8.5 wide.
She stopped a good step behind the 7yd line.
Momma that aint no target pistol now. Dont you want to scoot up a little.
No.
Yes Maam.
1st shot just missed right next 5 on the sheet & one just off the spot.
2nd mag all on the paper one barely on at the top.

Her only comment was, "that sure is a long trigger pull." She is used to her Sig 232.
Yes maam. Really need to pull it through a little quicker. We did a couple of what I call "go drills". Dont worry to much about accuracy. When I say "go" I want to hear bang. She did several of those to remedy hesitation about 2/3 of the way through.

Loaded up again & move left & shoot on the move. 3 hits out of 4 shots. :thumbs2:
Again & one out of 2.
She shot some more while I picked up brass.
:thewave She likes it. I do too.
2nd round just barely did not make it into full battery. Rest ran like a top. All were reloads. If I had known you were interested I would have brought the target home & posted it. (chest out braggin on Mom icon goes here)
I sure enjoy watchin her shoot. :txflag:

Mrs. cowboymd has her CHL, always carries (when work doesn't stop her), and goes to the range almost every time I go (when work doesn't stop her), since she got interested in shooting and the right to not be a victim and protect ones self.

My husband goes with me to the range just about every time I go - 3-4 times a week.

My wife is waiting on her plastic to get here. It is still processing as of today. She has an LCP to carry when her plastic arrives, so far. Her sister has a Kahr PM9 and I think the wife is leaning toward one as well.

As far as the range, she probably goes about 75% of the time. She also goes bird hunting with me a couple times a year, when the grandsons get a chance to get out dove hunting. That's what I call quality time! :txflag:

Mrs. Chemist has her plastic, carries more than I do (Her employer does not prevent it.) and goes to the range with me every time.
As for buying guns - I have to stop her!

I took my 13 year old girl to the range today. First time out. When have been going over the commandments for 2-3 weeks. Learning how to operate a semi-auto. Left eye, right eye. All the safeties. Dry firing, unjamming dummy rounds, etc. etc. :rules:

She new what she was doing but still a little apprehensive this AM when we loaded up and left. :???: I packed up everything.

We started on .22, then after a while on that shot a couple of 25acp. She didn't like that one because it is a dangerous gun. So small you can't jack the slide back and check for rounds in the chamber comfortably. I don't like it either but it was part of the progression of caliber. Then we did 9mm. Uh Oh....big bang  , more recoil = scary.

She spent a lot of time at 9mm and I shot .45. Asked her if she wanted to shoot .45 after she became comfortable with 9mm. She was apprehensive but shot it anyway. It wasn't so bad. Matter of fact she liked it better than the 9mm. Less recoil.

Next thing I know, that all she wants to shoot is the .45! Good thing I brought 2 .45's or I would have been the brass boy all afternoon. To make a long story just a little bit longer.....she loves my .45acp 1911's! Alas, a young lady after my heart, she loves the 1911. :thumbs2:  She is 5ft 2in and 100lbs but look out...she can shoot!

Punched a lotta holes and had a good day at the range! She is so proud of herself! :fire

LIA. Great news on the young lady learning to shoot. Excellent progression through from dry run to having fun.
