I see them so much that I ignore them. I really don't understand the issue here... :headscratch

Nor I. This must have been discussed in 20 or so threads, but for the uninitiated, here we go...

The sign posted by the OP or a sign like it is required by TABC at establishments that sell alcohol. That is unless they make more than 51% of their sales from alcohol consumed on premises, then they have to post a 51% sign.

The TABC will provide a printed version of the "Unlicensed" sign, but the store is not required to use the particular one that TABC supplies, or to use the exact wording. They are just required to post the notice.

I see this notice in almost every store that sells alcohol for off/on premises consumption (unless they have a 51% sign). I don't believe it is any indication of the managements' feelings toward CHL one way or the other. It simply indicates that they are following the TABC regulations for an alcoholic beverage licensee.
4/13/1996 Completed CHL Class, 4/16/1996 Fingerprints, Affidavits, and Application Mailed, 10/4/1996 Received CHL, renewed 1998, 2002, 2006, 2011, 2016...). "ATF... Uhhh...heh...heh....Alcohol, tobacco, and GUNS!! Cool!!!!"

Right. Same as when they post the TABC pregnancy warning sign, I don't see that as any indication about the restaurant's feelings about reproduction. They're following the law.

But I do wonder why they post the pregnancy signs inside the door of the mens' bathroom.

I think I've posted this before, but the Grapevine BWW posts this silly sign, which, of course, doesn't mean squat to "us":

It's hard to see, it says "Buffalo Wild Wings Inc. bans guns on these premises."

I like the TABC signs, and, like I've mentioned elsewhere, it would be GREAT if there was a 30.06 sign that the State produced/provided - that way there's no question as to the validity of it.

This exact sign is at the new Tomball location as well. I am not about to tell them that it does not keep CHL holders from carrying there. I think it is just to make the sheeple feel more comfortable. I still don't understand that mentality, but I will tolerate it.
I have to agree. Remember, we only care if its 30.06 OR a "person in authority" tells us to leave when at commercial stores. Otherwise we're good to go.

I do get a good inside-chuckle at the BWW sign. I've been to one in Mansfield and Sherman with the same on-glass sign.

I waited until we were leaving to take the pic, and then a guy came out to look at the front and see what I had taken the pic of. As he stood there kind of scouring the doors for damage or evidence of some sort of wrong doing, he realized we were sitting right across the parking lot from him, so them he folded his arms and did some nonchalant star gazing while we drove away. :smilelol5:

BTW, Grandpa Tony's, across from Love Field in Dallas has a 51% sign behind their four seat bar, in spanish only.
I know Grandpa Tonys does not make 51% of their income by alcohol sales. Check their license. BTW, dang good food there. I use to work at Love Field years ago and you could hardly get in the place at lunch time.

Gah! No! That's a bad idea. Then more places would put them up! :smilelol5:

A group of us from TSA used to go there after our shift, from time to time, but it was too close to the airport and eventually our decompression sessions wound up at Club Schmitz, which has a blue sign. I objected to goig to a place that was, even improperly, posted.

These signs just kill me. Do you folks ever wonder if the person making the decision to post these signs really believe an armed robber will stop right there and leave? :banghead:

They know it doesn't stop the bad guys. They want to stop the good guys from being armed.

Last time I was down there (years ago) it looked like Club Schmitz was closed down. That place was an icon that had been there since the old days when Denton Dr. was the main highway before I35 was ever built. Anyway, don't want to highjack the thread, just sayin.
