While working in the Beaumont/Port Arthur area, I was alerted to the rash of thieves popping trunks open in hotel, restaurant, and mall lots.Chris wrote:if you go shopping, take a car with a trunk.
Not only that, but in the Houston area the crooks are watching you load your car at Conn's, Best Buy, etc., then following you in a car to wherever you stop next! Always try to go home to unload before you go to another store or stop at a restaurant for lunch.Cosmo 9 wrote: Second move your car if you leave one store and go into another. My car was broken into last year after putting gifts from one store in the trunk and then going into another store in the same strip. They got nothing because I don't have an inside trunk release but it took me half a day to replace the little rear window.

I do find it sad that the season of Love and Forgiveness is one of the highest crime periods during the year.
the distinct possibility exists that they will take the entire car and everything in it, but there are more opportunistic crooks, than full-time crooks. what you cited is not necessarily the norm. you can't be 100% protected, but keeping things out of sight will stop opportunity crimes.anygunanywhere wrote:While working in the Beaumont/Port Arthur area, I was alerted to the rash of thieves popping trunks open in hotel, restaurant, and mall lots.Chris wrote:if you go shopping, take a car with a trunk.
Two co-workers lost company laptops out of trunks.
Keeping your stuff out of sight is fine, but if you park and then put stuff in the trunk, the BG in the lot watching can see you.
Just a thought.
