And just the other night, on TXCN, while the store invasion robber pointed a pump shotgun at the clerk, the voice over announcer said it was a rifle.jimlongley wrote:Or, one of my favorites in the great unknowing news media, calling a rifle s shotgun, or v/v.
No, The "shoulder thing that goes up" is a barrel shroud.almostfree wrote:I thought a clip was the "shoulder thing that goes up."![]()
Speaking for myself, I do not assume, if you say clip, that you are talking about a magazine, but if that proves to be so, I then do assume that either laziness or poor education has played a part in your conversation.bigred90gt wrote: (and even those that know the difference know what you are talking about).
Right on, Jim! In the current context i would certainly expect this of a gunner's mate, but you go on to make your point into a general observation, and it has been demonstrated to be so true, time and time again.jimlongley wrote:Speaking for myself, I do not assume, if you say clip, that you are talking about a magazine, but if that proves to be so, I then do assume that either laziness or poor education has played a part in your conversation.bigred90gt wrote: (and even those that know the difference know what you are talking about).
Just like any other nomenclature, if you misuse it, there are people who will not understand what you mean. Clarity calls for proper usage.
Your wife is correct, you read a magazine and she wears a clip in her hair. The only answer left is it is called the thing that holds the bullets. I will have to call springfield for one and see if I can get a free subscription to "Guns and Ammo"!!RPBrown wrote:The wife says that a magazine is to read and you put your bullets in that thingy that goes into the bottom of the gun.
Not necessarily. Submarines are boats, not ships. Submarines consider all ships as targets.cheezit wrote:boba wrote:Crystal. Do you want to take a shot at the difference between a boat and a ship? The Annoyed Man wrote:Is everything perfectly clear now?![]()
off topic I know....
the awnser is a boat is what you run to as the ship is going down.
....Not true. Because the ship (destroyer) that I am on, which the submarine/boat thinks is a target, has deployed a torpedo- or nuke depth charge-laden helicopter that is hovering above your periscope. The Annoyed Man wrote: The ship is whatever I'm standing on, and a boat is whatever you're standing on... ...unless I'm standing on a submarine. Highly unlikely, skimmer Sawdust. The way you skimmers pound the water with your active sonars we hear you a hundred miles away. By the time you hear the screws from the Mk 48 ADCAP torpedoes you might as well bend over.....you know the drill.sawdust wrote:Wait a minute! How did we get onto guns (sorry, firearms)? I thought a clip is a penalty called during a football game. And a magazine is what I take to the facilities.
