I remember. As a young man I was transferred to Carlsbad NM for a short. My son was born there. When we returned to Texas he was issued his & I was told to give it to him when he could say, "John Moses Browning got it right the first time."

Yep, just like we say here. Never let the truth get in the way of a good story!longtooth wrote:I remember. As a young man I was transferred to Carlsbad NM for a short. My son was born there. If you decide to get a Texas CHL, make sure you take the class with a good instructor. There are some who teach their fantasy instead of reality, and misinformation can be worse than ignorance.armueller2001 wrote:Thanks for the advice and the warm welcome... i am planning on getting an updated Florida CHL with my Texas address on it and I will just use that for 2.5 years until it expires.. looking at crossbreed and MTAC Holsters now. Thanks again!
This will only hurt a little. What comes next, more so.

Welcome to the great state of Texas.

Cougars are shy, reclusive, and downright mysterious...
Re: A couple questions, moving to San Antonio from Illinois
That is too true. Look at some of the questions newbies post here which should be crystal clear after the class has been taken. Quality instructors are outnumbered by the ones in it for a quick buck.Cobra Medic wrote:If you decide to get a Texas CHL, make sure you take the class with a good instructor. I heard that Illinois is the other way around. If you have a 1911, you have to surrender it when you cross the border into the state.81aggie wrote:Remember back when times were good you would be issued one at the welcome center when you entered the state?rm9792 wrote:If you are coming to Texas I am afraid you will need at least one 1911. Pretty much! And to make it worse, I'm coming from CHICAGO. Expensive, small expressways way undersized for the population, horrible taxes.. and the most draconian gun laws in the country.. yeah, (edited Please read the rules. G rated forum.)LTThe Annoyed Man wrote:I heard that Illinois is the other way around. Then Illinois ships it back to Texas to hand out to the next guy entering -- Its the cycle of life...The Annoyed Man wrote:I heard that Illinois is the other way around. HAHA that's a GREAT idea! I'll burn it with my drivers licence. Excellent excuse for a bonfire!
