Are gun shows worth going to now?

Yeah, we noticed the hundreds of black pistols. None that we saw at prices we would pay (or maybe we were ignorant of the gold right in front of us). What's up with that?

yup they are starting to make cars more and more out of plastic. next thing you know we will have throw away cars and guns.

Any new car under 10k is a disposable hunk of machinery. I know b/c I see people day in and day out that that cannot justify repairing their current vehicle b/c the repair is more than half the value of the vehicle.

I was really just asking about why the dealers came out with hundreds of black pistols at what seemed to be uncompetitive prices.

As we have four of these already doing well for us, I don't have a problem with how they're made (we also have 6-year-old vehicles that are going very, very strong, as well as 45-year old vehicles that are also going strong).

We also saw a flock of expensive 1911 look-alikes, but none of the real thing.

I went to the last High Cal in Houston and came away with some really good deals. I knew WHAT I was looking for and had a really good idea what was a deal or not. I got to fondle my purchase before buying which was a plus. I bought my Rock River AR-15 for $85 less than online, and scored an ok deal on an Eotech sight ($30 bucks less than online, no shipping, and I got instant gratification. Instant gratification is worth something, at least to me anyway.

Besides, I got to meet up with 6 people from this very forum, which was well worth the entry fee and parking!

Yes, go to your gun show, but do go EARLY. All the good stuff and inexpensive stuff is sold out within the first hour. Online bargains aren't really bargains when you figure in FFL fees and shipping. Plus, I got ripped off once buying on that green colored gun auction site. Nothing beats being able to fondle the piece before you buy it.

Best places to buy guns (best listed first);
1. This forum (you can meet at the range and test fire it before you buy it)
2. Gun Shows (haggle and show up early)
3. Gunsamerica website (be patient, it'll eventually be on sale)
4. Dick's/Academy/Cabela's black friday sales
5. Pawn shops (be patient, it'll eventually be on sale)
6. Gun shops (worst place price wise, but best place to try before you buy at a gun store/range).
7. Gun shops with no range (worst place price wise, but if they help you and answer you dumb questions, then buy from them)

I think that really depends on which Pasadena show you go to. The Real Gun Show at Pasadena is terrible. the High Caliber show at Pasadena is much better.

+1. The "Real" show is a fake. More folks there selling fake jewelry, cheap knockoff watches, and wood carvings than anything gun related. Real show is a total waste of time. More like an arts & crafts show.

I think Gunbroker has ruined the Gun Show . . . I remember when there were deals to be had on Every aisle and you were only limited by the $ in the bank.
Now even the folks walking around expect to get FULL RETAIL ! ! !
I still go to a few but usually leave empty handed.
I am also not real keen on having to disarm and leave my carry gun in the truck !
That rule makes NO sense to me at all . . . Anybody can buy a Gun and plenty of Ammo at the show then pick which one of the unarmed people carrying a new unloaded firearm out to the car they want to go rob.

I feel that dealers have ruined Gunbroker. I see very few individuals compared to the delaers and dealers are wanting full retail or more. I do agree that you have to hit the shows early to get the deals.
