My daughter runs track, and we had several conversations about what poor muzzle control the "starter" had. Daughter even commented how he always had his booger hook on the bang switch and was waving that gun around like a flag. Yes, it is a starter pistol with the bright orange tip on the muzzle, but I was taught you even had good muzzle control with "toy" weapons. The second to last meet the starter started the "runners to your marks call" for some reason he pointed the gun to the ground and fired. I almost fell off the bleacher laughing when he was all of a sudden rubbing his leg/calf and looking at the starting pistoll.
I am hoping he learned an important lesson - fortunately no one was seriously hurt. I also hope if he does handle "real" weapons he has MUCH better awareness of how he handles them. I was tickled that my daughter has obviously been listening to the lessons we have been giving at every opportunity
