Muzzle control Important!

Post by Divided Attention »

If this is not where it belongs, please relocate. I felt the need to share something I witnessed that is a gentle reminder on how important muzzle control ALWAYS is - regardless the arm.

My daughter runs track, and we had several conversations about what poor muzzle control the "starter" had. Daughter even commented how he always had his booger hook on the bang switch and was waving that gun around like a flag. Yes, it is a starter pistol with the bright orange tip on the muzzle, but I was taught you even had good muzzle control with "toy" weapons. The second to last meet the starter started the "runners to your marks call" for some reason he pointed the gun to the ground and fired. I almost fell off the bleacher laughing when he was all of a sudden rubbing his leg/calf and looking at the starting pistoll.

I am hoping he learned an important lesson - fortunately no one was seriously hurt. I also hope if he does handle "real" weapons he has MUCH better awareness of how he handles them. I was tickled that my daughter has obviously been listening to the lessons we have been giving at every opportunity :hurry:

Was it an "AD" or did he actually mean to fire the starter pistol. If he did do it on purpose, he is not a good starter regardless of muzzle control, the pistol in the air tells the timers to get ready to start their watches and the white smoke says start the start the wathches.

They use blanks. .32 blanks IIRC.

I don't think he really meant to pull the trigger, but as his finger was ALWAYS on the trigger, I am not surprised he pulled it - "accidentally" or not.
It has to be blanks! WAY too loud for caps.
