Once again TXI has veered this topic way off course with semantics. I believe the OP's topic was intended to discuss ways to promote pro 2nd issues and how he does so. He also wanted to know how other members do this, if they do.

Arguing about why a certain method is used is NOT what he started the thread for.

Maybe I am asking for a beating, do we need to be so hard on this guy? At least he is trying to encourage gun support. It seems to me we (gun-owners) should be enthusiastic about anyones approach to promoting gun ownership. He is not, afterall, standing around with a sign opposing guns.

tsteven1 I would try to stay away from looking like a radical, people usually will dismiss your viewpoint without even listening. I am not saying you have crossed over into that, but I think that merely speaking with people does the most good. Letting them know you are a regular above-average guy, and that it is ok to support guns.

Of course there are some of us (me included) that just love our BDU's and NRA hats and can't help but look, and act, a bit on the radical side. '

Good for you…you’re voting with your dollars and in the commercial market place money talks, and everything else walks. But it’s not clear that Google or Blockbuster know you “voted�.

Sending a well written and non-confrontational letter letting them know you “shopped� elsewhere based on their lack of support for your second amendment rights would ensure your vote was counted.

Personally I steer clear of writing a dissertation on why I have the right, or what the “real� interpretation is of the 2nd amendment. The reality is the business managers don’t care about the constitution or your rights. What they do care about is your dollars went to the competition. Keep the note on that level, and by all means, be polite!

I've got an update, gracias to seamustx hisself! I recently had to take my 5 toed dogs to the podiatrist. (I'm talking about my feet, investigater.) Anyhoo, he's a great young fella. I asked if I could place my NRA, TSRA, and 'Outdoor Life' rags in his magazine rack after reading them. Success!
And the office manager lady has told me that she's seen limpers like me reading the aforementioned. Onward Christian Soldiers!

I used to leave my magazines in the break room at work. Most of them sat around until they got dog-eared, but someone started throwing away my NRA magazines as soon as I put them out. They'd be in with the coffee grounds and banana peels.

On the magazine note i frequent a barber shop staffed by all female barbers. They aren't particularly pro gun, fishing hunting, or even sports. I've offered to stock them with tasteful 'oriented' material. :-)

My barbershop is also all wimmin-folk. (Only the owner is a barber; the rest are beauticians, and you can thank the restrictive Texas Barbering Commission for that. The only meaningful difference in the two licenses is using a razor to shave; reasonable people might think that changing from beautician to barber would only require demonstrating proficiency at shaving, but the Barbering Commission is not reasonable at all. They'd have to take the entire two years of study all over again.)
