That is a very efficient looking set up, everything you need, not much you don't.
I just went through an interesting learning process regarding HD ammo. I got to reading various articles online,
http://ammo.ar15.com/project/Self_Defen ... /index.htm which led me to
http://www.firearmstactical.com/briefs10.htm. I commend them to the attention of anyone who is planning on a shotgun in the HD role.
From the articles, it appears that No. 1 buckshot is the ideal balance of penetration, lethality, pattern, and such like considerations. After some investigation, I located a supply of No. 1 buckshot, which isn't easy. I wanted Federal Tactical Buckshot. The LE132-1B round is a low-recoil load that uses Fed's FliteControl wads filled with #1 Buck. GT Distributors in Austin has it for $2.99 a 5-pack.
I soon acquired a supply of the Federal No. 1 buckshot low recoil flight control ammo and went out to a local range to give it a go. The range report can be found at
http://sigforum.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/ ... 5380081003. I also found a Box o' Truth report on the same ammo at that site.
One thing I did notice is that out to about 20 yards, there isn't much of a pattern at all, just a huge, nasty hole in the paper more than 1" in dia! You do not want to be on the receiving end of those babies!
Luckily, I have enough willpower to control the driving ambition that rages within me.
