XD45 Tactical

Post by ml1209 »

I just got this today. At $499 plus tax, I could not resist an accurate, reliable .45 cal handgun that takes 13+1 mags (which are only $25 each). I also like the 5" barrel because it matches the Government 1911 length and is good for .45ACP.

I've been researching the various XD models. On the SA website, they don't give the thickness. I guess they're all double stack mags?

For all intents and purposes, they are all the same size except for barrel and/or grip length. One holster (open ended) fits all.

Congratulations. You will love it. I know I love my .40. I'm hoping they come out with the XDm in .45. Then I will own two XD's.

The 45GAP uses single stack mags.

There is a very slight increase in the grip circumference in the 45 ACP models.

Yeah .45 is the way to go for me. 13+1 rounds of it makes for a comfortable feeling.

I know you will like it! I rotote between my XD 45 service and Kimber Eclipse Pro II for my main carry guns, but always have my XD 9 as my BUG. I can't say enough good things about the XD line of guns. ( as evidenced in my screen name) I'm looking forward to the introduction of the XDm in 45 with great anticipation!

Has anyone done this with their XD?

I put the Hogue slip-on on the grip. I notice that I can permanently depress the grip safety if I inch it up toward the top. If I leave it this way, will it hurt the gun? I kind of like it this way, and the Hogue is very comfortable.

I particularly like the 14+1 rounds of .45 in my 3" Kimber (2 magazines + 1 in the pipe). "rlol"

Sorry, I couldn't help myself. My bad.

Intentionally defeating a "safety device" can be problematic. It probably won't "hurt the gun" but could be used against you by an over-eager prosecutor if you ever have to use the gun in a defensive situation (somewhat less likely in Texas than in other states).

IMHO. YMMV.
