This is so sad, and so many negligent errors on the part of the father. He's going to have to live with this for the rest of his life.

Handguns don't "fire". They are fired.

The media does this all the time. They use the passive voice making the person sound like a disinterested third party while the gun becomes an animate object, "going off" and "firing" without any input from humans.

Mistake number one. EVERY gun is loaded. The rest is part of a failure chain induced by poor gun handling that has never been corrected. This is negligent homicide, pure and simple. Rather than feel sorry for the father, I'd like to grab him by the scruff of the neck, shake him hard and scream, "WHAT WERE YOU THINKING?"

And of course the gun store gets featured prominently for plenty of guilt by association, even though the venue was actually a car.

Someone will most certainly use the shooting happening at a gun store as justification for banning them from proximity to schools, etc.

Seems to me we should ban cars near schools.

I hope not, but I have been learning alot lately how we are not responsible for our own actions...
I just hope that this man learns from his mistakes, and can eventually find a way to live with himself after this horrible tragedy.
