Re: interesting statement by cop after parking lot rage incident
I still want to know what our colleague did to get the lady's knickers in such a knot?

Re: interesting statement by cop after parking lot rage incident
I also agree. I do not want Anyone knowing that I have a CHL, that I, personally, do not choose to tell.buffalo_speedway_tx wrote:There was nothing correct in the way the Officer handled this situation. I suspect he was trying to defuse the situation with some humor, but that was not the right comment to make. First revealing that you have your CHL and second leaving a citizen with the impression they could get shot by a CHL holder.
Also to insinuate that a CHL holder would 'go crazy and shoot you' is Crazy in and of itself! That's just asking to make everyone who heard this conversation anti-CHL..
'hey honey, guess what I heard a cop say today... that CHL Holders are crazy and shoot people for no reason other than some old lady yelling at them!'
IANAL, YMMV, ITEOTWAWKI and all that.

If he wants to make a joke like that, self deprecating humor is a better choice.
"You're lucky he's not an off duty cop and he didn't pull his gun on you like some kind of crazy person. it happens all the time, I've seen it every day, and you're lucky you didn't get shot."

I will second this comment. I would like to hear what led up to her going bananas. Did you park in a spot that said " Crazies only "?Oldgringo wrote:I still want to know what our colleague did to get the lady's knickers in such a knot?

And depending on the situation, where this particular "dress down" occured, no telling how many people heard the officer make such a poor decision to reveal your information...
